EGR Cooler delete???

Trying to figure out what I'll end up doing. Not finding many D-Maxs that I am searching for, so I need to put some of these extra parts that I have laying around on the truck.

I didn't buy an EGR cooler delete, but should I??? Can't make up my mind!

2 words. DO IT. If you need to be convinced, pull the intake and see how much soot is built up in there. Mine had 30k miles and it was a 1/4" thick. When i set it on the ground soot chunks started falling out like pea gravel. I figure it was just a matter of time until that crap would have really done some damage. I can't wait to see how much better off my oil will be now that the EGR and regen's are no longer.

You can still block the EGR with out deleting the cooler. I am sure that getting the cooler off had its pros and cons, but at a starting point I don't think it is necessary as just blocking it. If you do delete the cooler I would suggest you invest in an External Wastegate like the prostreet gate that is out there.

Its a piece of mind deal more or less. but with the cooler off the truck it will keep the Drive pressure in a 1 to 1 ratio with Boost press and not allow boost press to hit over 60psi which is thought to be the cause of the headgasket issues found on modified (in my opinion highly modified) 6.7L CTDs. That being said I don't think its a giant issue.

I guess it would be better to say that the EGW is a piece of mind for any EGR deleted 6.7L not just those with a cooler deleted. I am up in the air about deleting my cooler and will most likely put an EGW on when or if I do.

I have sold and installed quite a few 6.7L EGR and EGR cooler deletes with nothing but good reports. I think its the highly modified motors that are in danger of the excessive pressures.

So deleting/blocking the egr cooler raises the drive pressure? I run my mini max on stock level in town(to save the clutch) and mild on the highway(gives 2 extra mpg). i"ve heard about drive pressure problems on the 6.7 when turned up, but where and when have I crossed the line?

The VGT is the reason the drive pressure is not in a 1 to 1 Ratio. It is thought that by blocking the egr or removing it gives that excess pressure no where to go. In theory if you leave the cooler on it will "absorb" some of that pressure before more expensive things fail. With low tunes on your Mini Max I would not suspect you are in danger just yet. Its when you run REALLY High tunes that I would be more serious about the EGW. Any EGR blocked or removed 6.7L could benefit from a EGW kit but they are pricey. Ill prolly do one when I delete my cooler. (maybe this winter..) (OR when Erik will get me a Smokin deal on the EGW? )
