6 spd auto?

is it a double overdrive?

gear ratio of 6th gear?

can it be locked in each gear and driven like a manual?

0.63 is the 6th gear I believe. 0.7? for 5th. This is very similar to the gearing in the new auto in the 06 chevys. Someone will have to answer the other question.

i was reading a thread at a another diesel site about the 6 speed auto
they were complianing about too many gears and gears shuffling when driving up hills
if this new aisin 6 spd box is a double overdrive with every gear locked up with the torque converter.
i think dodge will have the edge over ford and chev with the new aisin
transmission (chev and ford motors dont make max torque lowdown like the cummins I6 does)
think of this :
adding a gear vendors overdrive to the aisin 6 speed with the new 6.7l cummins torque beast.
tripple overdrive !!!(think of driving the new ram 3500 unladen)
most of our outback roads have no speed limits
reminds me of that banks sidwinder video http://www.bankspower.com/sidewinder-movies.cfm

Lock up in every gear from the factory?

That's be pretty darn annoying to drive around town IMO...

the Cummins and Dmax both make peak torque at 1600 rpm. 610 for the Cummins, 650 for the LBZ.

Hey, just read this at TDR I don't know if those of you that aren't members over there will be able to open and read this or not, but its worth a shot. http://www.turbodieselregister.com/06ntea/
Anyways, it was the offical release of the 07 work trucks. Talks about cab and Chasis, and a little about the engine and trans. IT also says that the 6spd auto will only come with 4.10's and will not be released in the 2500's or regular 3500's, just the work trucks. The regular trucks will have the same old 48re.
That kinda got me down. But then I realized now I have more time to save.

If this turns out to be true, we have to organize a Diesel Cannonball Run.

Yeah, that would be fun. However the sad fact is that with a 37% OD and the 4.10's that are supposedly the only option, if you want to call that an option. You actually have a lower final drive ratio. 2.58:1 versus my 24v which has 2.45:1. No good. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

4.10's.. I believe that is common in the 550 series trucks.. (Ford's version)... drop to a 3.73's when they drop to 25/3500... ????? I sure hope this is true for the Cummins...

That sure would be nice. if not, when I buy mine, I'll just throw in some new gears with a really nice locker, that oughta help. The other plus to the six speed not being released in the NON work trucks for a year, is that the tranny guys will have some time to develop parts for em.
