2008 Laramie Fuel Mileage

My dad has a 2008 3500 Laramie 6.7l & automatic. The truck is bone stock with 25,000 miles on it. The best mileage he has got was 13.7 driving and it gets 9.5 towing the race trailer. Trailer weight is around 11000.

Are these numbers normal or should they be better, What can be done to improve the mileage

The 13.7 could be low, although is that city driving or highway? If highway and carrying no load it should do 17-19mpg. City driving depending on how much stop and go the 13.7 to 14-15 mpg would be normal. Towing the trailer if it is a tall one catching a lot of air it might be a bit low again depending on style of driving. Towing my 5th wheel RV, about 12,000lbs typically I get 9.5-11. Airodynamics of trailer will have a big impact, is it a square flat front or a v-nose trailer?

Its a square front trailer. 32 ft trailer but its not a double stack or anything. I think when they do drive it empty its mostly city driving

I never got over 15mpg stock. Mike your numbers are very impressive for a stock truck, though your truck is a bit more "broke in" than mine :sofa

I would say the numbers you are seeing are very close to the numbers I saw stock, Loaded with our 5er (approx 10.5k) I got 10-11 stock.

These numbers fit mine to the Tee....except towing numbers are a little different, but I'm pulling a 10k lbs boat which is a heck of a lot better with wind resistance!! Mine is also a 2500 not sure that would matter much though....
