my dad bought a 6.7 cab & chassis today

he crossed over. he has owned ford's all his life and doesn't really like the dodge trucks. just the cummins engine. he traded in his '04 6 point uh-oh for a silver crew cab dually cab & chassis 6 spd 4x4. 10 minutes after we got home we took the muffler off. quiet as a mouse!!!! we were going to take the converter off but it has an o2 sensor and other wires going to it. anybody have any info on what to do about a straight pipe or mods for it?

I don't think there is much out on the 6.7's yet. Since they only come with the cab/chassis right now not many guys have bought them, wait until the beginning of the year there should be some stuff out.

Find yourself a buddy with a really good scanner and see what this senser is actually doing then see if you can do something to emulate the senser so you can get away w/o having a cat. Be the first to enlighten us.

What about the particulate filter/trap? You can't remove that to my understanding and this truck only runs on Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel. All things to remember. I hope this new 6.7L is a good motor because us Ford boys have been waiting for a bigger cummins in our F650/750's.

i can't get a video for a couple of weeks but we put a 5" tip on the exhaust right in front of the rear tires on the passenger side. it is away getting a hillsboro aluminum flat bed put on it. with the holidays coming up, it might be the first of the year til we get it back. then i will get a video of that exhaust. he is gonna go ahead and put a 4" y pipe on after the cat and put either 5" or 6" stacks on it. then i could get another video of it.

Can you ask him what the max bumper pull (NOT 5th wheel or gooseneck) trailer rating is for his truck?

Thanks

Just a note: Cummins 6.7, Ford 6.4, 07i Duramax, all with 07 emissions will not have a muffler. The DPF replaces the muffler and will not be removable.

I found this....

"Within the 6.7-liter Dodge Ram Heavy Duty exhaust system, reducing particulate matter is achieved through a self-cleaning Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). The muffler is isolated from the emissions control system, therefore customers may remove the muffler without violating emissions compliance. The emissions system is designed for a government-certified 120,000 miles."
