Ordered One Today

Hey Fellers,
Long time lurker, first time poster. Great sight, lots of good information.

Went up across the river this morning and ordered a 07 3500 Laramie mega dually, 6.7 with the 6 sp Aisin. Was told that it would be 6 to 8 weeks from Jan 20 before Icould expect dilivery. I just hope it serves me as well as my 93 12v CTD has. I'll keep posting if there is interest. Keep up the good work!!

Are you sure it has the Aisin? I was under the impression that the p/u's come with the 68RFE 6spd. auto and that the Aisin was only for the Cab/chassis trucks. I would rather have the aisin myself.

Scrappy,
I'm sure about the Aisin. Salesman said thats the only way that they come with the 6.7. But rest assured I'm going to make a phone call and double check!! BTW the exhaust break comes as standard equipment with the auto trans.

who really knows

I ordered a new dodge Ran 3500 S.B with the 6.7 and auto. The dealer swears its aN aisin also and the people that answer question aT D.C say that the 68RFE is made in japan at aisin but everything that is said on hear say it made in the U.SA by D.C. I guess we won't know until somebody reads the tag on a new 68RFE.

Newbie here and don't want to sound like a know it all but unless something has changed drastically you guys have some misinformed salespeople (wouldn't be the first time) only the cab chassis's will have the Aisin option.
I have a 3500 quad cab/chassis ordered with a 6.7 and Aisin trans, from everything I've read the reg pick ups will have dodge tranny's built in the U.S. I think they may be 6 speeds as well not sure though.
As far as uninformed dealers go, mine knew nothing about the new 6.7 as late as July when I suggested they might want to look into it since I was thinking about ordering one.

I just had to ask, I didn't know if something had changed and DC forgot to tell us.(or the salesman never got the memo to begin with) I don't think either trans will give any problems. But I have to ask another ?, I thought that the 6.7 was CAPABLE of using the turbo as an exhaust brake but the dealer has to install the controls to it for it to work(at extra cost) is this another change?:sofa

I'd be all over a 6.7/Aisin with the exhaust brake standard! (IF I could talk the Boss into it!)

Scrappy,
Thanks for the heads up, you are correct! I just got off the phone with the dealer, he says that the pickups will have the 68rfe in them. Now here is a new twist. He says that the 68rfe is made by Mercedes Benz and has been in use in Europe in there medium duty trucks for some time.
As far as he knows niether of the transmissions are US made.

Let me know what you think?

I know the G5600 manual transmission was made by MB and also used in medium duty trucks also...Maybe both are too.
