6.7 Cummins in Mexico

Does anyone know if the 6.7 liter Cummins would run properly on Mexican high sulfur fuel? I'm shopping for a new truck and there seems to be a conflict of opinions...

It will mess with the DPF and the other emisions equipment. You can run it for an emergency if you have to. If I where you I would get a bigger tank put in, or buy an '07 or older. Those DPF are exspensive:2cents : .

Yes, that is best advice, if you have your heart set on a 6.7 get a bigger tank. Try to go with a 5.9 if your running Burrito Fuel.

The 6.7 WILL RUN ON LSD. The reason you are not supposed to run lsd in the US 6.7 dodges is because of the dpf. It will cog the dpf more quickly. Trucks sold in mexico are no subject to near (if any) emission equipment, therefore "their" (mexico bound and sold dodges) dont have any dpf's and will run on usld. The motor doesnt care if you run lsd, its the dpf that minds, and in mexico thye dont have dpf/s

1996 Gmc k2500 4x4 6.5 turbo diesel, with mods Blew the head gasket, put all new heads, valves, injecotrs gaskets etc on the truck only to get it together and find out it had no oil pressure, and sounded horrible (pry a spun bearing). SOLD

I don't think he was asking about trucks sold in Mex, I think he was asking about driving a state side truck to Mex. and running their fuel. I know they will run on it, but like I said it will mess up the DPF and that will be expensive.

I think that the high sulfur fuel will not only plug the dpf faster but it will also damage the injectors. I think i read that the 6.7 injectors use a piezo crystal in them instead of a solenoid and high sulfur fuel eats at the crystal or something like that, i could be wrong though, i'm pretty sure i read an article about them a while back.

I think the DPF would go pretty fast, that would cause sensors to go crazy, and trip codes, and limp.
