2009 trucks

According to Automotive News, the Ram 1500ís V8 Cummins turbodiesel (that's not a misprint) will have about 260-300 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, with gas mileage is likely to be about 20 mpg city, 25 highway (compared with the Hemi's 13/17). Acceleration is about 1 second longer 0-60 (9.6 seconds rather than 8.6 seconds) and is good even by car standards. (Remember, that's mileage similar to the Sebring). http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/2009-ram.html

Will be interesting to see if buyers will choose fuel economy over hp in a pickup truck.

Exactly torque. I think it shoudl be a hit

1996 Gmc k2500 4x4 6.5 turbo diesel, with mods Blew the head gasket, put all new heads, valves, injecotrs gaskets etc on the truck only to get it together and find out it had no oil pressure, and sounded horrible (pry a spun bearing). SOLD

what did the original 12 valve 3/4 and 1 tons have, some ~160 horse, at most 215. This is way more for a 1/2 ton. I don't think people will have problems w/ that much. Torque will way compensate. Imagine a reg cab short bed 2wd V8 cummins 1500, that would be a nice cruising truck.

Diesel is in my blood, I guess you can call it a disease, sadly there is no cure for it, it's my cross I must carry

Looks like we might have a new 1500 as a family vehicle.

Having a diesel in a half ton pickup would definitely rock.
