I say give it a chance. I've heard mixed opinions and its like anything. Its going to take time to get the kinks straight in them. Ford, Chevy, Dodge they've all had problems when they went for new technology and it eventually got worked out.

I'm on my third Dodge Cummins, all with manual transmissions and all being real towing machines. The 6.7 with 350 horses does a marverlous job with our 12,000 pound (loaded for winter travel to the south) fifth wheel. The mileage isn't as good at 14+ solo and 10.5 under load as the '03 was at 13.5 and around 20, respectively. My truck has been back to the shop,2200 miles, for replacement of a leaking EGR valve and a 5.9 like engine clatter. I don't know if the defective EGR valve would have any effect on mileage or the clattering but I do know that the engine is running real quiet. My dealer tells me that Chrysler is saying the 6.7 needs 4 to 6 thousaand miles on it before we see much improvement on mpg. However, I don't believe we'll ever match pre-anti-pollution mileage. The only consolation is that the new Ford Powerstroke and Chevy DuraMax are suffering, as well, and in some instances, more. I have a friend, long time Ford man, that told me his '08 350 is doing 10.

The Cummins has been pretty much bullet proof and I have faith in Cummins that they will make this 6.7 as good as it can be done.

That's my story and I'm stickin to it.

Mine runs like a bat outta hell. the 6spd auto does one hell of a job keepin her in the power band. The jake brake kicks *** too. loaded with two jeeps on a 35ft goose I never went down the passes any faster than 70 and I never had to touch the brakes.
