DPF problems ??? HElp !!!

Hello,
a buddy bought a 6.7 cummins 3500 Mega cab,its got about 9,000 miles on it and he has had some problems with his engine light and DPF plugging up so he took the guts out of his DPF & caty. it worked great for a day untill his information screen said DPF 100% plugged see local dealer and he lost about 2/3 of his hp & torque. SO he took it in to his dealer buddy and he reset it for him which worked good for a day untill it happened all over again, only this time the dealer couldn't reset the computer and was at loss of what to do except put a new DPF on:shrug:WE did what we could think of to try to fix it and was just wondering if any body found a way around it yet?? WE would appreciate any imput. THANKS for your TIME
He did say it made a big differance for a while

Not is out there yet to safely by-pass that filter. Nothing is out there to safely bypass the EGR either. Sounds like you are going to be stuck buying a new DPF system. The system could be set up to look for a certain amount of backpressure and emissions and temp and maybe others, I don't know, it's too new. I really wish I had one just to tinker around with! It's frusterating that I don't have to tinker around with because I think they would be fun espically if I could figure out something and be the first at it. Kind of dishearting as of now I can't.

So the truck is under warranty, the guy has a problem and tries to fix it himself?

Go to the dealer first with problems when under warranty!

no kidding why would you potentially void a warranty and gut your DPF if the truck is still under a factory warranty
