Silencer Ring

I've seen several writeups on the old trucks, but on the 6.7 the rings have little pins holding the ring in, and apparently the ring is pressed in. Anyone had any luck getting this thing out? Any tips? I'm not afraid to pry it out but I want to make sure its ready to be pried on. Thanks.

So no one knows how to get the dows out or anything? Surely someone has pulled theirs out.

Well, I was trying to find the link to a long post I made on this subject. I pryed mine out and yes, the turbo is louder...but my warranty will be voided I'm quite sure. You have to break the thing out and it leave a really large fingerprint of your tampering. Your best bet is to wait a while and make sure your truck isn't going to have some of the problems that mine and some of the others have had before you tamper with the silencer ring.

I took mine out too. Sounds like a load of BS to void a warranty for a "sound ring" removed on a failed turbo. What was the cause it was to loud for the turbo so it failed? If dodge starts to void warranties over stuff like this then I will spend my 40-50k on another brand.

So any luck with getting warranty work done after the ring was removed?

They just replaced my turbo, got it back yesterday, they never said a word about it........And by the way removing ring made no difference in sound. My 06 5.9 whistled night and day difference.

It made a difference in mine especially with the EB on. I am putting a cold air intake on when it gets here. I am told this really makes it whistle like it did on the 5.9's
