Check engine light

I had my check engine light come on today, and my mpg dropped to 13. I've never had this happen before this. No change in the gauges. My overhead is not showing anything (System OK). Is my engine in Regen? I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Any help will be much appreciated.

Tell us what code you are getting. Get in your truck. Shut the doors. Quickly turn the key on and off 3 times, leaving it on the third time. It will give you the code that is causing your cel.

The check engine light went off before I got to the office. And I tried what you told me after I got to the office, but nothing came up. Is this what happens when it goes into Regen?

It should`nt go on for regen but my truck did that once and it never happened again????? Secondo yes your mpg are going way down on regen . My truck does 19-20mpg all time and it drops to 13-14mpg on regen and sometimes for close to 15-20minutes! My overhead went on 2 weeks ago telling me I had a 80% restriction; went out for a drive at highway speed like the manual says. It took 20 minutes at 13-14mpg and then came back to normal(19-20mpg). So if you like to calculate, 20 minutes at 65 mph then at 14 mpg and at 4.00$ a gallon.....that`s a few dollars for each regen! Not funny....:watchout

mine comes and goes on a regular basis. like driving like an old lady 200 mile trip all hiway set it on cruise at 1500 rpm's like 50ish mph. overhead hit a hi of 26+ shut off truck the cel came on and stayed for about 300 miles. went away, then driving at 2000rpm like 68 ish on cruise hit brake the cel comes on did 623 miles on 33.7 gallons that tank. maybe 80-100 miles rural roads 40mph truck read a steady21+mpg whole trip. computer said 158 miles to empty, with the reg fuel tank showing slowly dropped by 1 mile or so to 140, corrected to 110, then 1 mile to 99, corrected to 80, then dropped to 40. i caught a station it took 33.7 gallons
