EGR/Delete intall

I have been reading these forums for almost 2 years now and I am impressed with the information and knowledge everybody has acquired about the 6.7l engines. I have an 2007 with about 10,000 miles and no problems yet, but this weekend I am working on installing my egr/dpf delete with edge. Some guys are just putting blocker plates underneath the egr and some are removing the whole assembly with blocker plates and plugging the coolant line. Which is better because at some point I will have to reinstall everything to go through emissions and remove again. Please help?

Just put the blocker plates in and unplug your egr. After doing that if you remove anymore you are just cleaning up the engine bay no other gains of removing the egr cooler. Pending on which flash you have you may get a surge and a little smoke on start up or as soon as you start driving but it clears up shortly after and it is for only a few seconds. To solve this problem i was told to remove the butterlfy valve in the intake horn but to be honest i tried it once and it was being a pain in my a** and just gave for now its no harm that i know of i have had my kit on for about 8500 miles and 0 trips to dealer lol thats a record mileage for me oh yeah truck has 32000 should of done this brand new. Good Luck hope this helps let us know how it goes

If I were you I'd just unplug it. That's IT. If you have to do testing every year, don't go to the trouble of putting plates in. Plus if you don't block the crossover tube and have plates between the egr and intake, your going to ruin your egr. Mines a pile of soot, and rust after 4000 miles of running thin plates, with nothing blocking the crossover tube.

What did you use to block the crossover tube at the egr? Just curious took mine all apart the other day when i was trying to do that butterfly valve and it was dry as a bone i still have the egr cooler.

A Dorman freeze plug works. 1 1/8" is about the size. I can get a part number if you want. Put it in the tube on the cooler side. How many miles did you have when you took yours apart? Mine was nasty.

Yeah i would take that number if you got it handy. It has been awhile ago i prob had roughly 5-6000 on with all the deletes it had some soot but no moisture under there right on top of the plates. I want to do the butterfly valve but if i ever want to return to stock can you put the valve back in or not

OK, got everything installed, truck runs good. Confused about the egr, I unplugged it for now. What happens if you remove the plates and plug it back in. I was understanding this was one of the reasons the oil turned black so quick.

it is, the valve allows soot to be put right back into the top of the motor.
