New Cummins Owner

Just purchased a 07 2500 with the 6.7 Diesel. The truck has a little over 17000 miles on it and so far so good. My question is the dealer told me that the truck came from a Crysler dealer auction. Are the vehicles that come from this auction, good vehilces? He is suppose to give me a statement saying why it was at the auction to begin with but I haven't received it yet. Just curious to see if anyone has heard about the auction and if I should be concerned.

Maybe it was a buyback truck? As in the original owner had problems with it, and lemon'd it. Not trying to scare you or anything, but that is just the first thing that popped into my head.

I know my neighbor just traded a truck just like this with about those miles on it. That would just be weird it that is his old one.

I ran an auto transport business up until a few months ago. The truck you had was purchased at an auto auction. The dealer told you it was a Chrysler auction. I know that the Manheim auctions have certain auctions that only certain brand dealers can purchase vehicles. For example, Manheim could run a Chrysler auction where only Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep dealers could purchase vehicles from that auction. Most auction vehicles are trades, repos, demos, lease turn ins, or new vehicles that did not sell. These vehicles usually go through sale prep where the auction details the vehicle, does paint touch-up, in most case do minor repair like dents and window chips. The dealer also has the option to pay for the vehicle to go through a post sale inspection where it has to pass certain inspections before the dealer buys the vehicle. Most used vehicles go through an auction process unless a dealer gets the trade vehicle and decides to prep and put it on the lot because he knows it will sell. I do not know if they run lemon law cars in the auction. I do believe if a dealer sells a lemon law car they must inform you of this and have you sign a document stating this.
