6.7L Remote ByPass filters mods and remount

Filters are mounted on 1/8" plate which will be mounted perminent to frame.

I used flex plastic conduit to protect oil lines. I also like the idea of running the hoses away from the turbo side of the engine which is much hotter.

Also be advised that this is not the way AMSOil recommends the install.

Maybe I don't understand but if that is oil filters then why didn't you block off the egr and stop all of the sooting and accomplish the same thing with less $$$?

Big Red I've been looking at the same thing and would like to hear from more people doing this. In short these filters are supposed to filter particulates, like soot, that your regular oil filter can't. This accomplishes two things:

1 - Extends oil change intervals
2 - Protects your engine better

Apparently this is particluarly important when running tuners and other mods that can increase soot that get into in the oil. This doesn't apply to just EGR engines, it supposely effects all diesel engines.

This is my retirement truck. I plan on doing all I can to this truck to make it efficient as possible and stay friendly to the world we live in. If I can extend the amount of oil it uses and does less damage to the internal parts I am for it.

ok , good to know something new...but I thought bottom line was all the sooting came from the egr and tune hence you get rid of the egr and the soot from the tune goes out the tailpipe?

This is a reply to several of your Questions

Soot Removal

AMSOIL has designed a new high-efficiency by-pass filter element that is also a soot removal device. AMSOIL Ea By-Pass Filters use a synthetic/cellulose sandwiched media. The inner layer of the element is composed of a highly efficient cellulose media covered with a full synthetic media outer layer. These filters remove 39 percent of soot contaminants less than one micron. Soot removal efficiency increases approximately 10 to 14 percent when the EaBP Filter is used in conjunction with a standard full-flow filter.

By-Pass Filtration Benefits
  • Dramatically Extended Drain Intervals
  • Improved Oil Cooling
  • Increased Filtration Capacity and Life
  • Increased Fluid System Capacity
  • Efficient Small Particle and Soot Removal
  • Significantly Extended Engine Life
  • Equipment Constantly Runs on Clean Oil
  • Increased Engine Efficiency
  • Remove Particles Less Than One Micro
Our OEM filter

AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters have the best efficiency rating in the industry. EaO Filters provide a filtering efficiency in accordance with industry standard ISO 4548-12 of 98.7 percent at 15 microns, while competitive filters containing conventional cellulose medias range from 40 to 80 percent efficiency.

And by the way clean install.
