Why do first oil change early?

Here's why. Note the 6.5% fuel dilution with only 2,500 miles on the clock.

I change the filter at 500 miles and do oil/filter change at 1K on all new vechicles.

why?? imo that is a overkill.
Don't get get me wrong in that I change my oil in my vehicles and all of my equipment early, but not that early.

Well I'm not an engineer but my impression was always a new motor seats in the first 1000 miles or so and creates metal shavings that you want to get out of the motor. You don't want them floating around gouging your cylinder walls and other internal parts.
