Finding a Regular Cab & 3/4 or 1 ton

Well I think I'm going to bite the bullet and order a truck since I can't find one on a lot anywhere in the color I want (can't stand white). Had always planned on a 2500 since my foreseeable future doesn't include loading or towing heavy enough to go 3500. Figured get airbags to level out if ended up putting too much weight on it. But since the difference is about $500 to go up to the 3500 and I'm ordering anyway, I'm looking for advice on which way to go. From all I gather, the ride is the same because the extra springs don't engage until enough weight in the bed or on the hook pushes down to that point. Am I right or is the ride noticeably stiffer between 3/4 & 1 ton?

Wish I could find a lot with one that they were desperate to get rid of, but apparently no one likes reg cabs anymore.

unfortunatley the reg. cabs are usually bare bones and made for a fleet buyer but u can still order them, I havent found any difference in the way my 3500 rides compared to a 2500, just make sure you get a wider wheelbase don't get the shorter wheel base it may mean you will have to get a long bed though.

I was recently looking for a 1500 standard cab with long bed for a employee on the farm. Difficult to find standard cab. Dealer told me that only 4% of pickups sold are a standard cab.

[Edit] Sorry, meant to show this reply threaded directly to BigRed (don't know how to do this). But yes Dodgefarmer, my taste being less than 4% of the market is not surprising now that I'm looking hard and not finding...

Yeah, they're all fleet ST trucks. Wanting non-white and SLT is making it tough. Good to hear about the ride difference, that's what I thought. Course I wonder if putting 700 to 1k lbs in the bed of a 2500 to smooth the ride out means in 3500 it would take 1500 lbs. Just curious, not that I'll cruise everywhere w/ heavy cargo just for smoother ride.

Also, long bed is only way it comes in 3/4 & 1 ton reg cabs. Long bed's exactly what I need though, otherwise I'd live the easy life finding a QC short bed - there's a million of those out there just the way I'd want.

Keeping 700+ lbs does help the ride. Its about what I carry in tool box and other stuff. Also keep rear tire pressure 50-60lbs.
When I tow my 5er I tool box is off and run 70-75 lbs in rear, If I unhook and run around empty You feel every little bump without weight and the higher tire pressure.
