Some sort of pressure box is about your only choice. MP-8, or Power Puck. Everything else will leave some sort of trace, and I'm sure if they ever could see your rail pressure has been over stock psi they'd know you had a pressure box too. Not to much is untraceable. As far as best programmers, it would be Smarty and XRT. Both leave footprints though.

Im not sure if you have it or not but on the newer cummins the ECM is locked thus you cant use a chip you would have to use a programer like edge/banks. An the not leaving a foor print is a joke I was talking to a mechanic that I know that works for the dodge dealer an he said they can see any chip or programer you put in your truck if they look hard enough. Im not sure how your dealer is with mods but I know the dealer here you can run a programer an unless it causes major damage with the DPF then they will do warranty work so no big deal here.

I installed a Superchip Cortex programmer in my truck a little over a week ago. It has 4 programs in it for the 6.7. XS Economy/ Tow/ Performance/ Extreme. I have driven it around in all but the Extreme. I have it on the XS Economy program right now and on the hiway get over 20 MPG, 16-17 in town. It runs better than the stock computer setting, even in the Economy setting and will tow maximum load in all settings except the Performance program. If I have to take it to the dealer for anything. I will set it back to stock. Superchip recommends this, because the dealers tend to install the latest program from the manufacturer when you bring in the truck for anything. If you don't put the stock program back in you will loose the Superchip program if it is still in the truck.
I gave $369 delivered on Ebay from an authorized Superchip dealer. Plus, I went with the Superchip programmer because it had a limited Engine/Transmission warranty.
Just my 2cents with 45 years of driving experience.
Plus, when you go to the dealer and your truck is all jacked up with big tires and loud exhaust. They are more likely to check your ECM footprint. If you are an old fart like me. I don't fit the profile of a HotRodder and they are less likely to try to dig through the footprint of the ECM if I do have a engine problem. It is one of those things that you have to decide what is best for you. I plan for this truck to outlast me. But, it really ran like a slug before I installed the programmer.
Good luck with whatever you decide on.

As long as the build date is before 03/09 you are fine it will not lock your ecm. The worst thing you can do to your dpf is run any programmer while its still under your truck.

Ya i would like to have one of each but if anyone wants to get a new one they better hurry or mods are going to be limited till they figure this ecm BS out. As far as the original poster these trucks are very reliable once you get the emissions bs off but there are some that have had good luck with stock form i personaly have had ZERO!!! problems since it has been deleted.

Just a quick question but has anyone heard of anyone running into a truck with a locked ECM or is it just a rumor? I personally would have to think that by now someone on here would have had this happen by now. Just wondering

Just from what I read everyone that has a 09, has had a build date before 4/09, and they are good to go. I don't think it's a rumor though, and anyone with a build date after 4/09 I don't think has even tried. From what I read H&S has been working on it, and Marco has said bring it on. Not sure why or what they would be working on if it wasn't true. Just my thoughts.

That is true Fuzzy, I guess time will tell. I just wondered if anyone on here had had trouble with it?
