Vaction with the 5er and Towing MPG Report
Just got home last night from a trip to the Smoky Mountains and Pigeon Forge. It was a great time and the 6.7 towed our Cougar 310SRX Fifth wheel great. The truck did great through the mountains and on the interstate with the fifth wheel. My overall mileage was about 11.5MPG that is taking into consideration a lot a idle time in high traffic areas such as Cades Cove where we did see 4 black bears, and running from 65-70MPH on the interstates. I have attach a chart of MPGs and fuel cost along the way. the High mark of Refuel # 3 was w/o the 5er running though the mountains and around Pigeon Forge. which is where it saw the most idling times. The trans temp while towing on the interstate averaged about 150 deg. and the EGTs through the Mountains was about 950 deg. but I am also pretty much stock with the EGR/DPF still in place. The exhaust break also was great while towing, I have found a new love for my truck again. Also see thread https://www.thedieselgarage.com/forum...ad.php?t=81256
the Pac Brake
Air bags improved the overall ride while towing the 5er 100% I highly recommend them if you are considering air bags. I am also very happy with the on board air from Air Lift( Quick shot single). I will also post some of the pictures from the trip in the parking lot for those who are interested.
