Oil changes

Guys my oil change reminders keep going off sooner. I and running premium blue 15W40 and fleet guard filters with little idle time. I called my deal, cummins and dodge and they have no clue. I think I should be getting more than 2500mi per oil change. Can they reset or change a sensor? What ideas do you have? Cummis seems to think the service interval can be change or it is misreading something. My solution is doing deletes sooner than later.

If it is a sensor, which one?? As I understand they are multiple sensors involved in determining when oil changes are done. It is based on load, idle time, temperture of engine, rpms, mileage and ??? All these factors and others are used to compute when oil changes are needed.
I get my oil changed every 6000 miles and never see the oil change message.

Just reset the oil change indicator. I don't rely on that thing anyway. I change my oil when I decide I want to change my oil.

Turn ignition to ON but do not start.
Press accelerator pedal to the floor and back 3 times within 10 seconds. (I found that one second down, one second up, one second down, etc. seems to work the best)
Turn ignition switch to OFF.

It may be necessary to repeat this procedure until you get the timing right.

From what I am seeing, everybody's reminder is coming on at different intervals. My dealer said that I can run 5k between oil changes. so I think thats what Im gonna do. My next question is can the reminder be turned off to never come one, I know it doesnt take long to reset.

My suggestion is when your light comes on go get an oil integrity test. AMSOIL sells one that you can do in your garage. This will tell you if the problem is really your oil or a sensor.

I am looking into this. I may go a head and change it this time and run the used oil through the test.

Hey man, don't worry about that little light, just come up with some kind of a schedule and change it when you want to, since I've gutted my truck my light hasn't come up once and it used to come on about every 3000 miles or so.
