6 speed auto how much can they take?

Many of you have trucks with way more power than I have how much power can I put to this speed auto before I break something I would like to by a smarty and run the sled pull at scheids diesel next month how much have you pt down stock what should be my first upgrade?thanks

Eazy is the only one that I know completely burn one down and was IIRC a boosted 4wd launch and held it for some time. maybe he will shed some light one this. I have not heard of a lot of failures with the 68rfe so maybe we finally have a decent trans.

the black Piers DRW that made 618 held all of that on a stock tranny...but if I recall the Suncoast Trans they have right now is rated for 500...Id say it would hold 425ish Im really impressed with them....

I would say 425hp....I have a XRT 175v1 aggresive turbo timing and I have a goerend TC and the stock converter is the weak link. After I did the TC my truck is twice as fast sence I would walk right through the TC before. Every thing else is holding just fine. But other than the TC the next weak link is 5th and 6th clutches. SC told me that there mega clutches would hold more than 500hp. But they dont advise it for long term use at the track and pulls. but who pulls in 5th and 6th?

I toasted the tranny at 28000 with the edge and ts mp8.

Mine held almost 500rwhp no problem until I was an idiot and sat a LONG stop light boosting the heck out of it. Completely burnt it down at that point. But up till then, no problems with slipping or anything! I'm guessing these things would go to 550.

Anyone can kill a trans if you misuse it.(burnouts, to much and to high boosted lanches, pulling a trailer and using all your HP in overdrive.)

By the way, my tranny went out at about 2,000 miles! hahaha. I drove it to 88k after that with 0 problems.

If I upgrade the TC would it be worth the $600 to get a new after market trany module like the one that scheids diesel sells?

Personally, I think it would be well worth the money! A lot of people seem to forget how important it is to upgrade a tranny when dumping all kinds of power to it! Then wonder why they're 550 rwhp truck is dead on the side of the road with a burnt up stock tranny..
