new tires and shocks

Last week put 4 new Michelin LTX A/T2, stock size on pickup. Had factory LTX A/S before, 62,000 miles. Before in my 1/2 ton pickups was only able to get 30-35,000 miles no matter what brand I used. Will never get 100,000 miles like some do with their michelins because I put a lot of miles on the pickup on dirt/gravel roads.

So far they are just as quite as the A/S tires. Haven't been in mud or snow yet to test.

Anyway I decided to put new shocks on today. Did not really notice the degredation but since still had factory shocks I figured they were showing their age. After putting the new ones on test drove it on one of the local roads that is rough and has lots of dips, county has put up "Caution Rough Road" signs on the road because accidents that have occured on it. The new shocks made a huge difference.

I put on the NAPA "ReFlex" series. List price is $98 but I get them for less then half price with my discount.

I posted this in case anyone is looking for an alternative shock.

Would those tires be comparable to the BF-Goodrich all terrains, we have the factory michelins with only 16,000 miles and the sides are cracked and dry rotted from the arizona sun. We need new tires and not sure about switching brands, but want an all terrain tire when we go to the mountains pulling a horse trailer

The LTX A/T2 are consider comparable to the BF tires. The Tire Rack website rates the michelins higher in all catergories over the BF. It is actually the highest rated. My tire dealer is an independant and sells all makes and it is what he runs on his F250 diesel. I have runned michelins on my cars and get 80-100,000 miles. Dealer said the LTX A/T2 will last as long if not longer then the A/S I had before.

I hate that when they wear out in the winter. All 4 of mine were down to the wear bars, any more they would look like slicks. If it was winter they would have been changed a long time ago. I like some tread depth when its raining.

I like the look of that tire. My stock michelins' have 31000 and are not yet to the wear bars so I'm hoping they make the winter. But I don't know. They look like they have probably another 10,000 on them. Pretty happy with the ltx tire so maybe I will go with them again but probably that one..
