shift on fly speed

New to these forums, and I have a quick question.

I have an 08 dodge diesel with shift on the fly on the dash. How fast can I be traveling and shift into 4 HI?

My last dodge was on the floor and was not a Diesel so I need some help!

Thanks in advance!!

I would think like any 4x4 to be nice to it and safe in bad weather the slower you are going when you shift it the better.

2007.5 DODGE 6.7 1-TON 6-speed stock for now. B&W turnover ball.
1994 DODGE 5.9 3/4 TON AUTO, DD4 injectors,191 DV's, 0 plate,3K GSK,Timing at 16.5, Volant air intake, Straight pipe 4", BD tranny.

I have shifted on the fly at 40mph before no problems and have ran it up to 110mph no problems either but like last post said the slower the SAFER you will be.

Agree

I agree with both you guys slower or barely rolling is best. I am just curious because in my last Dodge the manuel shift into 4wheel was on the floor and I could shift it up to 50mph no problem and always worked perfect and I had the truck for about 100k miles.

This is only an issue when I'm pulling the snowmobiles up North and you start seeing people drive off the road because of hitting slick spots. Sometimes you can't just slow down in time to shift it. Again rare, but happens about everyother time driving up North.

Thanks guys for the responses!

I shifted mine all the way up at 110 several times. That being said, if you shift under 110, you're safe! haha

I've run mine over 100 before on the drag strip but never shifted into 4x4 that fast. I'm sure I've shifted into 4x4 at around 35-40 in emergency conditions. But I never drive faster than that in the snow either. I've seen too many wrecks in the snow at work to make myself go faster.

I think the manual says you're ok shifting into 4wd HI up to 50mph. Its in there somewhere if you check.
