Clue me in on the 6.7's

Alrite guys, Im a ford guy...dont kill me. Im looking for some honest information as to what you guys are doing to your 6.7's for go fast goodies. Also what are yall getting out of them.
There is a kid in my town that has a crewcab LB dually with a 6 speed. It is pretty quick. All I know is that he has 6" stacks, a fuel pump, a double disk clutch, and a smarty 170 or somthin with allthe deletes. It smokes quite a bit.
According to a few people it is the fastest in town. What are my chances of taking him with my 6.4?
Thank You.

Not that great if the biggest tune you have is a 210.

the 310 spartan tune would even things up a bit....
Smarty and H & S have really evened things up. I still think right now you can get more out of a 6.4 on just a tuner. That said I still think there is a lot to come for the 6.7L.

Jeez i don't know what to tell ya, i have watched a stock 08' 6.7-CTD towing 15K-Lb's out accelerate an 02' Chevy 8100 2500HD extended cab short bed 0-75mph . . .

the chevy was empty towing nothing . . .

How quick is your truck compared to an 8100 Vortec ?

Well, the 210 is the highest that I have now but I am planning on the 275 sometime. This is not some grudge or anything I am simply testing the water.
I know that his truck is royaly beat. He has 60,000 on the clock and has already blown the head, blown the tranny(a manual), and is on his 3rd clutch.

As far as in comparison to the 8.1 chevy I dont think there is much of a comparison. Most 8.1's that I have been around and worked on are not very fast.

The 6.7 you described isnt much faster than a low 14 maybe if hes good with the hand shaker a high 13 with the tuner all the way up. The 6.4 with a 210 is going to be around a 14.20-14.30. A 250 or 275 tune would be all you need.

I wouldn't worry about it a whole lot, just build as you planned and give him a run. . .

EDIT:
I don't have much experience with racing truck's much less diesel's, there to slow n clumsy for my taste,
i Like to race car's, Less money more speed . . . Gas engines seem to rev up faster . . .

in the time it takes a diesel to go from 1,200rpm to 3,000rpm a Gasser can run 1000rpm to 7,500rpm, don't believe me take a Diesel n a Gasser put them both park slam to the floor and see which hits the rev limiter first ! i bet the Gasser hits the limiter first and at a much higher RPM.

Yeah but a gasser cant make 1500 ft lbs of torque at 2000 rpms and propel a 8500 lbs truck down the 1/4 mile in under 11 secs either. And its not that expencive to make a 6.4 runs 10's, less than 10 grand not including the cost of the truck of course.

To be honest, if your running an auto, I'd put my money on your 6.4 pullin the 6.7. The 6.4 made me a believer when I saw an 08 F350 go 13.7's on a programmer alone.
My 6.7 went 13.76 with pain (75hp) Edge, full exhaust, intake and EGR delete and it was an auto.
That being said, if you guys runum from a roll, look out. I rode in Sootbandits truck and that sucker flat out flew from a roll!
