Delete ?s /Smarty?s

As I get closer to making the decision to pull the trigger on deleting or staying stock for the remainder of my powertrain warranty, I have come to the conclusion that I have many unanswered questions. so here goes.

1) I plan on a 5in TBE what muffler to put in for the least drone?

2) with smarty what do I have to do to the EGR system?

3) If I run say a 30 or 60 hp tune am I risking Head Gasket or injector issues? I also don't want to drain the Rail. (is over boosting an issue)

4) Do you have to run POD on the smarty as I don't understand it completely?

5) Can I run the above tunes and set the TQ Management and not trash my trans?

6) What kind of Timing do I want, stock or Mild as I think if I understand this with REVO I can select it as a sub category?

7) What am I missing?

8) Should I give up and lose my and find a 5.9L

9) Am I making this more difficult than it really is?

As Im not looking for all out HP just a reliable tune I can download once and DD/tow get good mileage and be SAFE! I want to do this to make the truck more reliable. Now that I have confused myself even more, I will try and go back and read more and see what I can make of everything. Thanks again guys. Also is Bob Wagner active on here as I have heard very good things about him and would like to hear what he has to say. (I guess I could email this to him as well? ....)
I should also add that the truck pulls a toyhauler that weighs in around 10500lbs and could go above that with other loads.
Thanks Again TDG!

I think you might be making this a bit harder then it is, first off do you have any tranny upgrades? I feel it is a must when your thinking about adding hp. Last thing you want is to be sitting along the road with a smoked tranny.

Smartys sold in the US for the 6.7 wont remove the egr of dpf codes...but there are plenty out there that will.

I have many of the same questions. I mainly pull a 3 horse trailer with a total load of 10K. My stock truck has done very well, but I am tired of the emmisions and other stuff mandated by UNCLE SAM. I am probaly going to just do TBE and reset the computer for the the delete. Unles I fid some other reason to increase anything else. I have 82k on my truck and it has been great so far.

This is true for the Smarty sold in the US but what you do is download the ME file to fool the computer. I reread everything this morning when I was not so tired and it make more since. I just don't want to do something I will regret. Also yes my tranny is stock at the moment. Seems the 68RFE does hold more than the 48RE but at the same time I agree with what you are saying. I guess since I am getting closer I and thinking to hard. At the same time Im not looking for a lot of HP mainly to just rid the BS.

Thanks again man.

Neel you should check out smarty jr.
http://www.madselectronics.com/SmartyJ67.html
Here is a link to the instructions.
http://www.madselectronics.com/CodeF...EGRDelete.html
Just three setting with 100 hp being the highest. It will delete everything just like smarty, and it's less cash. The 18me software you have to download to it will be pod, but you don't need to use it. Just set the pod at 99, and that's like not even having the pod.

Thanks Fuzzy, is it worth the more money for the SR if I ever wanted to bump it up down the road? I honestly will prolly never go over SW3 (on SR) for a long while. other than paying for more (hotter) tunes is there any difference in the Jr. Ie still adjust for tire height etc? I just don't want to void my warranty and then get slapped with a huge repair for my stupidity.

I if I understand the EGR instructions I could simply put the blocker plates in the crossover tube and under the EGR motor and not have to take the butterfly valve in the air inlet out?

You could. There is no need for butterfly removel. Just make sure to unplug the throttle body valve. It's kinda a pain to get to it on the back side, but not bad. I also unplugged the servo motor on the egr cooler. No need for that if you still have the cooler, but I did anyway.
