what the ??????????

My brothers 2008 with a 6.7 .. getting ready do snow work... went outside to start it up to warm up.... came out 10 mins later and oil was all over..... Shut it off... He freaked out.... We pulled the filter off(fram) could not see any holes in it... look all over... Cleaned it with brake clean, put new filter back on.. filled it up... lost about 3/4 gallon.... no leaks....?????????? been fine ever since this was a few weeks ago.... Anybody eve had this happen with a 5.9 or 6.7?

1. Take the Fram off...
2. Go to NAPA and buy a WIX

Looks like its coming out from round about the filter top, unless its on the turbo somewhere...

when you put the filter back on did it dump anymore oil?

I have had the gasket stick on the filter housing when I have pulled them off to change. I found this out when the new filter was a PIA to get on. I run Fleetguard filters but I have heard that Fram filters have been know to come off some diesels.

No it has not done it since... just 1 time... we have had 4 2004 and newer 3500 crewcab's 4x4 cummins trucks... never had this happen before.... This time the filter was just crazy hard to get off... like it was sucked on or something.. I know thats kind of stupid... but it was just really tuff to get off...

As for frame filter... We run them on everything.. diesel engines. atv's mowing eqip.. 565 race engine's.... If you look at filter breakdown/ teardown test... k&n is the best then fram... wix is way down the line and they are makers of almost 75% aftermarket name brand filters... We have had good luck with them... k&n's just cost a arm and a leg...
