More power with EGR/DPF Delete ???

Does deleting EGR and DPF give more power, or better fuel milage, or a combo of both. I am installing a 6.7 in my harley truck and dont need them since my truck is a 2004.

It frees up power and a better breathing engine is going to get better MPG.

Deleting the DPF will only free up some more power, I've heard more than a few times that doing the EGR/EGR Cooler deletes actually causes you to lose a few horses. I didn't really notice that much of a loss on mine, that's just some rumors I guess.

I've never heard about the power loss with the EGR delete, but your not gonna gain any power by doing it. But your engine will thank you for deleting it as you won't have exhuast running back through your engine. Doing a DPF delete will give you more power.

Deleting the EGR will help the most with mileage and keep your engine clean. If you just unplug it wihtout any electronics you will get a code and it had shown a drop in power. Deleting the DPF won't help much for power or mileage but it will get EGT's down and get rid of the possible clogged dpf. When you add a delete tune like the XRT,BlackMaxx,Smarty,Smarty JR, or the upcoming new Eclipse tuner from Vengeance Performance, you will seriously wake the truck up.

You should consider doing some ARP 425 head studs before the motor goes in and possibly a EWG kit.

When i dynoed my truck wit just 4in tbe, clutch, edge set to 0, cai i made 327hp 598ft/lbs this was wit just block off plates in the egr cooler was still intact. But as Ram said studs or just go ahead and put a aftermarket turb on it would be best

was planning on doing head stud, jus not sure which one to go with. was also kicking around the idea of balancing the rotating assembly. Skyd Ram what is an EWG kit?

(Exaust Waste Gate) from the way I understand it the stock turbo can flow plenty air but doesnt scavenge well do to a restrictive exaust housing. Does this kit just dump excessive exaust overboard?

The VGT turbo that this motor uses can create drive pressure ratios in between 2 to 1 and 2.5 to 1. Even with some of the milder tunes this can create drive pressures approacing 60 psi. This is a contributing factor to blown head gaskets and can also hamper power in the upper rpms. The EWG can be set to open as the pressures increase to lower the drive pressure.

thanks for all the help. Skyd Ram when I was building powerstrokes I liked the H 11 tool steel head studs from A 1 fasteners. are the ARP 425 strong enough? Also is the stock turbo sufficiengt for 400 to 500 rear wheel HP or am I better off changing to a diffrent turbo?
