Just had to get on to vent a little. Told the wife but she just don't seem to care. Why does the stock filter have to be so friggin tight i never tighten my oil filter that tight and have never had a leak. I feel like an old man after fighting that stupid thing. That is the 2 nd filter i have had like this my 07 was the same way. And man is that oil dirty for only 3000 miles. I got to do deletes on this thing quick !!!!! Thanks i feel better now

Yeah, they are a real pain. When I changed my fuel filter the first time, I crushed the plastic housing with a filter strap wrench. I am not sure, but it looks to me like they spray a clear finish over the assembled engine, almost like a sealer or something.

They always are. For whatever reason every new truck i've ever seen, no matter the manufacturer, tightens the hell out of the filters from the factory. Almost like they think its going to fall off on the way to the dealership...

Or maybe who ever does it thinks it's funny knowing how much it upsets me and how funny I look with my head up in the fenderwell over the tire saying and making funny noises. There needs to be a complaint line to call and ***** a fit to. You no so you could vent on them. Instead of trying to tell the wife and she has no clue !

that bothers me realy bad too not so much the having to remove it but the fact that they are ignorant and cant instal the filter corectly you should be able to install and remove the oil filter with your hands no tools should be required if instaled properly . It is a lil scary to think the manufacturer cant even put the filter on correctly lol makes you wonder dont it

.....because the Cummins Oil Filter Installer Gorilla was told to tighten'em that way.

On a more serious note........all OEM first-installed filters are a PITA to remove.

You no i don't recall the fuel filter on my 07 being to bad but they have the slot for the 1/2 inch drive ratchet. Haven't changed the fuel filter on my 10 yet but will see. I run the k&n oil filter now for easy on and easy off with a quick drain oil plug it only takes me about 10 min to do a oil change now. Anyone out there using k&N filters i'm hoping there good enough i would like to stick with mopar but the k&n is pretty easy.
