have you tried the thing that clears oil change required on the overhead. turn key on and depress accelerator pedal 5 times to the floor.

My 07 did that once. It would not clear with the clear dtc's so i reloaded the smarty program and it went away. Might be worth a try.

By chance did it come on at or close to 60,000 miles?

If so it is for egr cleaning. I asked my dealer about it and and they said they have never cleaned one, in fact I was about the only one that asked about it. They told me to clear the warning and not to worry about it. They had more concerns about causing leaks etc by opening it up vs. leaving it alone if all was working fine.

Its been 16,000 additional miles since I cleared the warning and have had no problems

52,000 miles on truck cleaned the EGR it was easy it is laying on my work bench. I think it is a meassage to go to the stealership for some checking account abuse. All i want is to clear it. the dingging chime is annoying.

Garage
Try this:

PERFORM SERVICE INDICATOR - RESET
Unless reset the “Perform Service” message will display on the EVIC each time you turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position to indicate a emission maintenance is required. To reset the “Perform Service” indicator system (after performing the scheduled maintenance) refer to the following procedure:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Do not start engine).
2. Press and release the brake pedal two times.
3. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly two times within 10 seconds.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.
NOTE: If the indicator message illumination when you start the vehicle, the “Perform Service” indicator did not reset. If necessary repeat this procedure.
