J35 Done and almost new turbo

Well, I have had my J35 notice for awhile now, but haven't taken it in.

About a day or so ago, the truck threw a CEL, so I figured I'd get it looked at, and possible the J35 while I was there. I made an appointment for today. On the way there, the CEL went out.

I asked the dealer to check for and soft codes that might still be present. The did find a P0106 and the P2262. Well this is basically the 3rd time for the P2262. The service advisor cleared the codes and proceeded with the J35 update.

He then came and told me to schedule the "turbo cleaning." I explained that I did not feel that pulling the turbo, adding the clean out plug and having to go trough the de-soot process should be acceptable for the customer, as it really puts off the inevitable. If there is a newer turbo design that helps aid with soot buildup, let's just go there. But I understand why they can't - Chrysler procedure. So he just said talk to the Service Manager.

Talking to the Manager, he agreed with me. He then said as long as the Advisor didn't clear the code, that he could run a diagnostic test, that typically ends with a 'fail' result, therefore allowing him to just replace the turbo. Well we found out that while we were talking, the Advisor cleared the codes.

Oh well, he just said that wait for it to come up again, and then just bring it right on in. Just hope that the J35 update doesn't mask any CEL's to this issue!

i wonder if they can do the J35 recall wit everything deleted? As i would assume it would just mean retune the truck afterwards from what i hear wanna avoid having to put everything back on for a darn recall that means nothing to me at the moment but could one day if everything has to go back on.

They can do it all it takes is updating the ecm all you need to do is pull off the programmer dont let them start the truck or the dash will light up like a christmas tree. once they are done with the ecm just reinstall the programmer.
