Exhaust Brake Issues...

08 Reg cab flatbed 6 speed work truck. Guys had left the exhaust brake on all the time since the truck was new, someone turned it off one day, and now it doesn't work. I have checked all of the fuses, and the light on the switch does come on when you press the button but you can tell that it is not working when you let out of the throttle. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

On the hunt for a 7.3 preferably CC or Ext. Cab SB...Let me know of any deals.

Check for codes. I wouldn't be surprised if you have the p2262 code. It's a sign of the turbo on it's way out.

I'm wanting to say that this is the truck that was sent back to the dealer and the turbo was cleaned, and they sent it back to us. We have another one that is just a couple of months older than it is so I get them mixed up, but I think it was this one. And after you say that it was about the same time we noticed the brake didn't work anymore. I don't have a code reader but the overhead says system ok, and the CEL is not on like it was when we sent it to the dealer.

When dodge cleaned my turbo it lasted 3 days. Picked truck up on Friday moring went camping (exhaust break VERY weak) came home Sunday afternoon and got CEL for P2262 again. I would say that is your issue

It starts do to that once your moving parts inside your VGT are getting stuck in soot. On my 07.5 my dealer did`nt even want to clean it, he knew it was to late....they ordered a brand new turbo Mine went out at 25 000miles, it all depends on what type of driving you do. If like me you just use it as a daily vehicule around town 80% of the time, they`ll have to change it more than once....sorry!

EGR and DPF are the worst CRAP ever and the worst is still to come.....UREA !

my dealer cleaned mine back in 07 when the truck was fairly new . when i picked it up , the ebrake was very weak . i kept working it and it was back to normal by the time i drove the 50 miles home . i have not had any further issues .

started with 1996 2500 4x4 auto
then a 2004.5 2500 4x4
now have a 2007.5 6.7 4x4 3500 drw mega cab 3:73 rear G56
