Diesel Cert programs?
hello all, newbie here trying to get some information and advice. I'm an experienced CDL-A truck driver who is contemplating diesel technician school to open up new career doors - either as my own independent Owner Operator who can maintain his own rig (possibly starting a small trucking company), or combining both CDL And technician experience such as a wrecker operator. I've been researching all the diesel tech schools around the country and I gotta say I'm overwhelmed by the options I have, and im seeking advice. UTI/Lincoln tech are the popular ones but can be very pricey..... does anyone know of a basic, deisel maintainence program that would be good for someone like me? I'm not really trying to become a Master Chief Technician with T7 certs and all that, I just want some quality skills education to bolster my trucking career. I'm willing to go anywhere in the country for this, wyoming tech seems to have a short program but I'm not sure it's enough experience for what I want. I've thought about trying to get into a good shop/dealership but they of course want the schooling/experience before you can get in the door, so it's a catch-22 there.
Not sure this is the right section for this BTW, but I saw no subsection for schools/colleges focusing on diesel systems...... any advice is appreciated here, thanks
