Painting stacks.

I'm preparing to paint my stacks not the actually stacks but like the Y-pipe and the pipes. I've already got some Hi-temp paint and i was wondering what would be a good preperation for it? Thanks

just makes sure they are free of rust and then give them a little scuff with some steel wool or something. thats all i did for mine and its been good to go.

I always clean scuff and the wipe down with alcohol.
It's always worked good for my projects.

Is there a way i could lay a coat of gloss black on after i lay the high temp. paint down? Or would the heat just pill it off?

Well...it is paint...so try it. If it chips or scratches off, you can just re-touch it with the same paint. I agree with everything Doug, and Garrett had to say above. Make sure you clean the pipe, scuff it up don't go to deep, it will show when you paint it, then clean again...and coat.
