sure you can do it.. but the pearl is not in the clear. Pearl paints are what are called 3 stage paints. in a white pearl the process would be a white base (you already have that) then a pearl coat ( takes anywhere between 3 and 5 coats depending on what manufacturer you are using and the look you are trying to achieve ) after you finish spraying the pearl you apply the clear coat.

if you just want to turn your already white truck into a pearl white then you would sand the clear coat in 600 or 800 grit , you would have to spray white base over any cut throughs, then apply your pearl coats then your clear.

either way, to do it right you are going to have to de-trim the truck (remove moldings, handles , ect ) it would be a great time to fix any dents or scratches so if it were me i would just sand it down as if to do a normal paint job.

if you were to add the pearl to the clear and just re clear it, you could achieve almost the same look but the down fall is that you could not wet sand it perfectly smooth or to remove any dust that has fallen in the clear without sanding out some of the pearl that you put in the clear. that is why it is done in a 3 stage process .

yes i am a painter.

labor costs change from area to area, state to state. But, i would think your looking at atleast 2k for a job done correctly .
