paint question

my truck is currently white and tan, and for a while i have been wanting to paint just the tan part white. I dont have experience with paint so i am wondering if this could look normal without having to paint the whole truck. Also if i could not do this i was thinking of painting the whole truck black has anyone painted their truck and if so how did it turn out? and what is a ball park figure on how much this would cost?

as for painting your whole truck , prices vary all over the country due to different labor rates. I can tell you in my area it would be starting at 3k, that is including fixing some minor dents or other defects. I am not a fan of doing all over paint jobs and not fixing dents, scratches or whatever else. Its a waist of my time as a painter and a waist of your money.

now changing the lower color of your truck to white. yes it can be done. problem with only doing that section is that you will have a hard edge tape line at the spot where your two colors meet now. You could put another pinstripe over it to hide it like they do from the factory but that might look wierd since it wont be there to separate two colors anylonger. there is a technique that you can melt the new clear into the old clear and have a smooth transition but I would never do it. No paint company will stand behind that process , they had to come out with it for insurance work (long story) I would never do it to my vehicle and would never recommend it .

Thats what some other paint shops have told me about the pin stripe but i just dont think it will look worth the money it will cost to get it done

Agreed. The pinstripe would look out of place

when it comes to changing colors, your best bet is to just trade it for what you want.youll have factory, durable paint and painting jambs and engine compartments will put you @6-8k through a shop, and most dont want to mess with it even at those prices.unless you have a serious investment in the truck beyond the actual value already,it aint worth it my eyes.ryno liner is always an option on the lowers.looks good, protects the metal, and is reasonably cheap compared to repainting.
