Painting Mirrors? Questions..........

I'm thinking about painting the mirrors on the truck this summer sometime. How do I do that? I've never painted chrome.........I wanna go from chrome to black.

I actually thought about when the bottom of the truck gets the Line-X sprayed on this summer....having the chrome mirrors sprayed as well.......and the bumpers

Watcha think???

Can't you get black covers from the dealer?

Or trade your chrome ones with someone with black?

I was actually wondering what it takes to paint the 3rd gen style flip up mirrors. Can anyone throw that in here too? As far as what prep work to do?

Never done this but, ive been told to paint chrome stuff like bumpers or mirrors you have to sand it down or sand blast them until all the chrome is off of them. Then you apply self etching primer to them. then spray em black.

first thing I need to know as a painter is what are the mirrors made of. is it plastic with a chrome film over them or are they metal that is chromed. Different prep procedures depending on what they are made of .
