EGR Delete Question

I have an 06 and Im thinking of deleting the egr before it becomes a problem. Do I need to change the tuning after? I only have an air raid intake and a bully dog gt right now, Im not even sure if the bully dog is able to do that anywayz.

you MAY get a CEL (check engine light) when the EGR is blocked off - some do, some
dont (as and example i dont, but lonnie does). Im told tuners can eliminate that CEL.

If i were you, id get rid of that air filter !

it does nothing for increasing hp or improving mpg - if anything it shortens the life
of the turbo compressor vanes and allows foreign object damage (aka water/sand/dirt or
WORSE).

running a gauze filter requires significantly more maintenance (my bet is yours is dirty,
now, no different than most) and provides no hp or cost savings benefit.

Ok well I can see where that might affect the performance... I dont know how long it was on there before I got the truck but Im definitly gonna look into replacing it. After reading some of these other posts about tuners Im not so sure about this bully dog anymore either...hardly anything in here about them at all.

the factory/donaldson air filter is proven to be sufficient to at least 500hp, noting filters
better for your truck - any after market filter that claims to flow more air WILL also
flow more DIRT !

the ONLY line of defense immediately in front of & protecting your turbocharger
is the air filter !

you can find less expensive OE replacement filters at dieselfiltersonline.com - stay away from
the primeguard OIL filters.

the RACOR air, fuel & oil filters are fine and meet OE spec.
the NTZ (factory) trans by-pass filter is an excellent <cheaper alternative> too.

you may also fine the FRAM filters at walmart a good <cheaper> & locally available
alternative oil filter.

on a 06 you will get a check engin light just got done doing mine and i got it i think late 05-07 you will get one you can leave your egr sensor in the intake and it still thinks it is working and you will not get the check engine light i just took mine off and am going to get a SCT tuner with custom tunes.

I think it is great that Cummings service trucks are f-550 with 6.0 and 6.4. They must know somthing?
