towing heavy W/ turbo and sticks

I went crazy with the truck and now i want to tow heavy! I have II 225cc injectors and the VGT HO from elite. Right now i have no tune in it cause all i had was race tunes but I think the egt's are a little warm with the truck running stock and no trailer so I need some advice for keeping the egt's down when I have to yank around the tow hauler! Thanks

oh and I have the APR Headstuds, 411 gears in the rears with stok tires, I did that to eep the rpms higher which has been helping towing small stuff but if i let her into od which she has the power to pull it the egts just get to high. So my temp solution has been to go fast enough to keep the tranny in 4th which has got me 2 tickets all ready.

1) What kind of egt's are you seeing?

2) Spooled/boosted airflow with less fuel will keep the egt's lower, lug it in overdrive, and they will climb, especially with 225's..

3) Need a custom tow tune to tone down the fuel flow. Could take several attempts to get it right, and even then it may still be high with 225's and a bigger turbo.

4) Mike(Nutty Professor)at KEM Performance, got my Powermax dialed in perfectly the first attempt.

Aside from proper tuning, which is really a must have, you probably ought to consider more gear, 4.30s, 4.56s, or even 4.88s Get the RPM in overdrive up in the range of 2200-2400RPM at 55-60 with the small 32" tires. Then you can always jump up to 35-37" tires when your not towing if it's lifted a bit and keep the RPM down.

The F-550 I drive at work has 4.88s, and it needs them to move, but the poor old 7.3 turns 2500rpm to do 65mph. I doubt that 7.3 will see 500k, but at least the truck can move it's 20,000lb self and a trailer as needed.

The Current Truck (Oct-2013 to Present):
1999 (Early) F-350 Lariat, CCLB, SRW, Black/Tan

7.3L Powerstroke, 4R100, 4x4, 3.73, 37x13.50-18s, '05 Axle Swap, 6" Fabtech lift, GTP38 "D66" turbo upgrade, SCT 4-position chip with custom tuning by me, Straight Piped 4" down pipe through 5" dual stacks, N-Fab full length triple steps, Pro-Tech cab guard and tool box, louvered 5th wheel gate, Hella 500 Fog and Driving lamps, much more to come...
The one I'll miss, (Mar-2009 to Jan-2014):
2000 Excursion XLT 4x4

6.8L V-10, 4R100, 4.30, 285/75-18, 271whp / 388wtq
The one I won't, (Jul-2005 to Sep-2012):
2005 F-350 XLT, CCLB, SRW, 4x4 FX4

6.0L PSD, ZF-6S650, 3.73, 35x12.5-18, 4.5" Lift
