03 6.0L high egt

2003 F-350 6.0L 6speed, k&n FIPK, MBRP 4" downpipe back stock downpipe, Edge Juice with additude. Last week I cleaned my turbo cuz boost was non exsitent, now even on stock egts hit 1000 with out hardly getting on the throttle. the turbo is spooling now but is still kinda laggy, and when cruising at about 2200 rpms or so in 3rd or 4th it surges. any help?

Turbo vanes are probably still sticking. My original 03' turbo vanes were sticking and causing high backpressure and overboost. When I took it apart to clean it, I discovered the exhaust housing and unison ring were worn. I cleaned and lubed it anyway and put it back together to buy some time, as my Powermax was already on order, it worked great for about 2 days, then started acting up again. You can purchase a new housing and unison ring if yours are worn like mine was, as that may be a cheaper route to go for getting it working right again, but also make sure you don't have any exhaust leaks in the y up-pipe feeding the turbo. If you decide to go with a new turbo, such as the Garrett Powermax VGT, then custom tuning is needed to get it working right, but if you go with a stock replacement then you won't need custom tuning.

With an '03 motor, sometimes after the batteries have been disconnected for a amount of time, you will need to do the VGT relearn procedure.

It's been awhile, but have you had the FICM checked and a Power Balace down on the injectors? High EGTs on the 03 and early 04 sometimes lead to a bad injector or 8.

Honor, Grace and Dignity. Remeber these?
