6 Gun Owners?

Anyone here besides myself have the Gale Banks 6 gun on there truck? I bought this truck with it installed and just would like touch base on a few things about this programmer and what they've done to maximize the system. Right now I'm not able to switch to another programmer unless I'm able to sell this one. So, I have to make the best of what I have now. Thx in advance. Eddy.

2006 F-350 CC, LB, SRW, Lariet 5sp Auto. Burgandy Exterior with Tan Leather Interior. 4" Exhaust turbo back. Studded with ARP bolts 6/15/2013 with OEM Gaskets, SCT Custom tunes by Kem Performance, Isspro gauges, Blue spring kit upgrade. Coolant filter, Afe pro guard 7 stage 2 air intake.

If you still have stock cyl head bolts(it's not arp studded), then keep it on a lower power setting. Any inline tuner/device like the 6gun will not adjust the transm shifting to match the different power level settings. The transm must relearn and adapt on its own, which can take along time or never happen, especially on higher power settings. This is why inline devices have a reputation of destroying many transmissions. A custom tuned SCT tuner is worlds better. It can be tuned to exactly your truck and the desired power levels with the transm shifting to match. Myself, I use [email protected]KEM-Perfomance, I mostly run a perfomance tow tune that matches my Garrett Powermax turbo, tows great, shifts unreal, has low egt's, and runs very strong with no smoke. I guess the best thing you can do for now is just find a lower power level that works for you and the shifting is decent. When you do decide to make a change, I recommend the SCT-X3 with custom tuning like this one from KEM http://www.kemperformance.com/Produc...p?ProductID=32.

Sorry Eddy, I forgot that I basically told you the same thing already in your other thread, oh well, take it for what it's worth. I ran an inline device from Hypertech for many years before switching over to SCT, as long as you keep the power levels low, you should be ok until you decide to make a change.

Don't want to hijack the thread but I have a question for Harry. I'm thinking of adding the same turbo you have and wandered how you liked it. Current set up is H&S Mini Max, S&B Cold Air, Bullet Proof EGR, Latest Ford Oil Cooler, Straight Pipe. Spoke with Mike at KEM and he will soon be able to custom tune with the Mini Max (tranny and FCIM too). What tune do you like to run? HP? TQ? I tow a 7500 travel trailer, and will occasionally tow very heavy for work, at or a little over GVRW. Is the aftermarket turbo a good fit? Laggy? EGTs? Thanks for the info. Levi

The Powermax has worked well for me, and we tow light to heavy and egt's will max out around 1150 on slow hills with a heavy load. It is a little laggy off the line compared to a stock turbo with custom tuning, but only for a second till it spools up, then hold on, as it has a midrange punch that flows much more air than stock and will keep pulling hard throughout the rpm's. When driving on the road this turbo is excellent, instant response with lots of power. I'm running 3:73 gearing with 35in tires, so that makes the off the line lag a little more noticeable, but with Mikes tuning it's really almost just like stock tuned turbo off the line. A friend of mine with a tow boss dually has 4:30 gearing and a Powermax, it has no lag at all off the line and will roast tires just accelerating, and with hot tuning his egt's never go above 1200, with the same tune and stock turbo he would see 1400 egt's. Some people have had difficulty getting the Powermax to work right for them, and couldn't tow with it and were seeing high egt's, but that was mostly because they had the wrong person tuning there truck. The stock turbo when tuned right can work well also, and if you are still retaining egr it may work better in towing applications than a Powermax with egr, as the stock turbo was designed around the egr system and made to work together. The Powermax is a bigger turbo made to work around modded engines.

It looks like we will have similar trucks other than the EGR. Thinking of adding Powermax Turbo, Elite stage 1 regulated return fuel, bypass oil and coolant filter, fass or air dog, and blue spring mod. Have done the Bullet Proof EGR. I'm not studded, and was thinking of waiting till I either need it, or have an extra $4200 laying around (includes studs, labor, and machined heads). Thanks Harry!

HAHA very funny Neel. I believe most of us diesel enthusiasts tend to own 6 guns or more.

I would say this is most likely true.

Well since it's off the tracks and on fire. Mine's only a 5 gun...6 would just be an extra hole in a dead body..... I love my Ruger's especially my .357 SP101 and if its real serious the SR9 with 17 rounds is even better. American owned, American made reasonably priced and very nice firearms.
