ECT/EOT Delta Help.

ok I have a early 2004 ( call it 2003) f250 and I got a scan gauge and am seeing some decent difference between eoc and ect like 20 degrees running around town. not noticing any leaking and no residue at degas bottle. I need to check my temps on a cold motor, to make sure not a sensor issue.
and on to the questions, I have been looking and finding conflicting or confusing info.
I would love to replace the oil cooler with the bpd set up/ money wont let it happen right now.
I read there is a new oem style oil cooler, what is up with this, is it better/ last longer?
what kind of life are people getting with oil cooler replacement/ im seeing 300-50000?
guessing I need to flush and replace thermostat.
dumping my money into a head gasket stud kit, with bpd egr cooler and associated pieces. maybe if I can get 50000 out of this cooler I can then afford the bpd set up.
I also see other cooler replacement systems, any ideas, seeing mixed reviews

any and all input appreciated

Your EGR cooler and/or your oil cooler is plugged. Luckily you may have caught it before oil cooler splits and puts oil in your coolant which is a real pain to clear out.

OEM oil cooler replacement is fine if you do the following:

Delete EGR or install bulletproof version. Don't go OEM.
Install coolant filter
Flush coolant and/or switch to ELC like CAT.

Keep in mind you will need to get custom tuning via an SCT to get performance back if you delete the EGR.

I think your topic title isn't catching people's eyes. It's better to state the issue to get attention. Sometimes the "help" ones get overlooked.

Good luck. Been there done that.

Before condemning the oil cooler completely...

1. ECT/EOT deltas need to be checked with a fully warmed up engine at operating temperature and cruising steady down a relatively flat highway at 60-70 mph.

2. Once you are cruising...you should not see the EOT more than 15 degrees higher than the ECT.

3. For instance...ECT 195F / EOT 204F this is ok.

4. For instance...ECT 195F / EOT 214F this is not ok.

5. If you are towing and/or going up a long grade, then EOT can become elevated over the 15 degree delta for short periods, but should drop back down once you get back into a normal flatter driving route.
