EGR Delete in SCT 3

I had the EGR deleted on my 6.0 Powerstroke and the shop reprogrammed the truck with an SCT 3 tuner to get rid of the "Check Engine Light". I changed tunes today because I'm getting ready to tow my RV. The check engine light came back on and I can't find any way to turn it off. The only option I can find is to go back to the stock tune with EGR delete. The manual for the tuner is crap. It just said that you can program the EGR delete. It doesn't give you any instructions on how to do it. I tried calling tech support and there were ten calls ahead of me.

How can I modify the Tow Tune to delete the EGR?

I had mine EGR removed also. I use custom tunes that should have the programing to ignore the valve missing. Although I've not had any problems with my programing I went ahead and mounted the valve back in the area and plugged it back in. You could always just try that for now.

I don't have it. The shop kept all the old parts. The truck runs good. I just don't like the check engine light being on. I would like to know if there's a real problem.

Custom tuning like Indiana mentioned is what most would do, but finding anyone to do it is another story, feds have cracked down on street tuning for emission deletes, most tuning is either emission compliant or for the track only, but you still have a choice and it usually involves signing a waiver.

The guy at the shop that did the EGR delete did the original tune. He turned off the EGR in the hot tune that was preloaded on the SCT. It took him less than 10 minutes. He also loaded a version of the OEM tune with the EGR deleted. I didn't think it would be that difficult to do my own version of the Tow Tune without the EGR, but I was wrong. The manual for the tuner is crap. It's two pages and it's more of a marketing tool than it is an instruction manual.

An SCT tuner device is for loading a file. You need to get tunes made for your truck from someone who knows what they are doing. The person who makes it builds it like a recipe. The SCT device doesn't let you make changes- for good reason.

That's why I'm leery of messing with tunes. I've seen a lot of threads from people who have modified tunes and now their truck won't start.

I'm thinking about going back to the place that did the work on the truck and have them do it. I would hope that they wouldn't charge me since I just dropped $8000 bucks at their shop.
