towing tune question

am looking to add just a bit more power when i tow, but i am cautious since i am towing a 13k toyhauler. should i stay away from a towing tune and run stock, or would i benefit from one of the tunes offered by DJ, Elite, etc?

I like my BD X tuner, I keep it on level 3, with no transmission firmness when I am pulling 22,000 gross.

I'm towing about the same amount of weight and I use Innovative Diesels "aggresive tow/haul with jake brake". The "jake brake" feature is actually using the variable turbo vanes to create back pressure and help slow you down on the steep grades. It works very well in conjunction with the tow/haul mode and tranny lock up.
Personally I like the extra power it gives and about the only down fall is on steep grades or heavy right foot situations you need to keep an eye on the egt's. It's not a big deal, but I am very cautious and like to keep them at or below 1000deg on the long grades.
Even towing that much weight and keeping an eye on the egt's i'm still able to keep a very respectable cruising speed and am passing most others climbing the same grade as well as a "little" better milage too. (all depends on how many hills and how fast I want to get to the sand)
The SCT will also firm up your tranny shifts helping prolong it's life running those 37's and especially while towing as well as several other user adjustable perameters and CEL code reading and clearing.

I'm just curious what Doug can do that neither Elite nor Innovative can do? I just ask because I am interested in an SCT for towing and economy and that's it.

No offense to anyone else...I've tried a lot of towing tunes out there and none hold a candle to the Gogo towing tune...that's just my honest opinion...

They all write tunes. They all probably have their own opinions on what the perfect setup is. For the most part, I think that's all it is afterwhile, is opinions. All of them seem to have very good customer service and are willing to tweek your tune to your satisfaction. If you don't like the tune you get from one, once you have the SCT you can call another dealer and buy just the tune from them and they will email it to you. The cost isn't all that bad and you can find one that's perfect for your needs.

all the tuners have good towing tunes, now the guys that say only this and only that, it works for them, but don't forget it is a tow tune, if one guys tow tune is stronger than someones elses, is it a tow tune now or is it a tow performance tune. what i'm trying to say is when it comes to towing and fuel economy tunes, everybodies works good,
