black smoke question

my buddy has an 03 psd and wants to know how to prevent havin a ton of black smoke coming out bc he knows its unburnt fuel. he only has intake exhust and wants to get an sct livewire. also is the live wire a decent tuner???? dfuser has it with 3 custom tunes, dash mount and egt probe kit for 570$. thank for the input.

01 F250 PSD SC. DIY intake, 4" exhaust, pyro/boost/trans temp gauges, and DP F5 chip whith 60 tow 80 econo and 120race.

Is his truck smoking now?? A stock truck with just an intake and exhaust (no power adder) should not be smoking much at all, so if it is, he has a problem that needs addressed....

OTOH, if it is not smoking now and he is wanting to know how to keep it down when he gets the SCT, just have him tell whomever writes his tunes that he does not want a bunch of smoke.... The tuner will know what to do from there..
