turning the SCT SF tuner into a custom tuner

Got a buddy who has an X-cal II SF with canned tunes. Now i remember someone saying that the device can be deleted?erased and turned into a tuner that would hold custom tunes...is this correct? I just want to know if anyone has done it and how you went about doing it.

2004 F-350 XLT SC 4x4: SCT, AFE stage II, autometer gauges(pyro, boost, tranny, fuel), edge insight, CFM large mouth intake elbow, spearco, snow performance water injection, 5" stacks, ARP's, fluidampr, hypermax fire rings, LIPD regulated return, FASS, fuelab, casserly 190's, 64/71/70 turbo(polished compressor housing)modded FICM(ID), Hellmann's sump, electirc fans

it doesnt have a slot for custom already???

No Brent, it's the X2. I think the X3 only does that.

Just return to stock and erase device. That'll do it.

The newer X3, model 3015, has to be formatted also to be used as a custom device also.
