why not run a large tune when towing?

I'm just wondering is it because of cylinder pressure, egt's, tranny? Im just just curious.

I want to run my street tune the innivative just redid for me and overall my truck trailer combo will weigh in at about 18500lbs. I have guages and keep an eye on things whenever i tow anyways.

If you keep a light foot and watch the gauges you can be alright, but why not just get a tow tune from them?

If you are able to run a hot tune and tow and still keep your EGTs low then towing is fine... BUT with a good tow tune you dont have to watch the gauges all the time and makes everything a lot nicer/easier.

good points you guys have. I was just curious if i was harder on the trans or what the story was. I really dislike going back and forth between tunes and prefere to stay with one. I am now running a street file and I told him my mods and that i was towing about 18500 and he reccommended a tow tunes but said he tows with an extreme file. so I was just curious. Thanks guys

19K is a bit heavy, a street file should be ok if you have gauges to watch.i would just keep a strong tow file on the truck for a DD that way you have a bit of get up and go and the tow safe file in hand. Even with a strong tow file you can get up there in heat.

I towed my 13,000lb boat last weekend with my street tune and the only thing I noticed different between my tow and my street tune is that my tranny liked the tow tunes alot better, but egts were fine.
