I can't really give you an answer as to how the X2 and X3 compare to each other since I only have the X2 but yes, you can put custom tunes on the X2...

It holds 3 tunes. Yes, you can adjust those things, along with gear ratios.

I agree. In fact, I think the old X2 is a great unit that doesn't seem to have some of the quirks that the newer devises have. Chris

Talking

I have an X3 and have zero issues. If I remember what I was told the X2 and X3 are similar but the time to load a tune is somewhat faster on the X3.

For the price I'd snatch the X2.

X2 only holds 3 tunes total... Doesn't the X3 hold three custom and three canned tunes?

BTW, my X2 loads a lot faster than a friends Livewire does.

The X2 works just fine... If you need to just store more tunes on your computer so you have more than just three, then load different combos on the tuner and your good to go.. No need to spend a bunch more money IMO...

The X3 holds stock and 3 canned tunes and 3 custom tunes plus you can make adjustments. The X3 has more memory so it loads a lot faster. I dont know if the X3 is worth $300 more then the X2 that you have though.
