sct powerup msg timeout?

hey i just got a tune from rcd and loaded it onto my xcal. went to the truck to install it and plugged the module in, selected install tune, and it says turn key on. now it just sits there for a little bit then says powerup msg timeout. it says error reading dtc's and it cant read the strategy either. im in no way saying the tune from rcd has anything to do with, it just happened when i went to load this tune. anybody else ever have this problem, i've checked all fuses and the truck starts and runs fine. anybody? tia

mine did something like this....I opened it up and there was an orange wire that had broken off at the circuit board. re-soldered it and it works like a charm now. i also took a hot glue gun and covered all the wires so they would have a strain relief. if your going to do this, once you get it open just wiggle each wire and make sure they are still connected to the circuit board. you also may want to do a continuity test for each pin in the harness back to the circuit board and make sure there is not a break in the cable. hope this helps.

I also put some padding under my circuit board before I put it back together....now it doesn't rattle. every time we use these tuners the wires are moving back N forth till the finally break off... they really need a better strain relief on them.

i agree. i bought mine used and where the cable comes out of the tuner has always been loose and usually comes out, this was even after i had to send it back to sct to unlock it almost two years ago. definately not a good design on sct's part.
