FICM Programs

What will a FICM reprogram from Innovative do for my truck? Would I have to get new tunes from Eric? I would only get the low or middle program because I have stock injectors but may go to 155's or 185's and maybe a stronger VGT turbo later. Is it worth it to reprogram it?

I asked Eric about the tunes and he said you don't have to get new ones. I haven't gotten the FICM tuning yet, but the results I've heard are better throttle response and faster turbo spooling. Also, improved MPGs, but nothing major. One thing to consider, I don't think Eric uses an inductive heating strategy, he builds off an early '03 strategy, no buzz or heating. If you need those for cold starts you may want to consider either staying stock or going with Power Hungry Performance FICM tuning. They use early '03 strategy with the latest inductive heating (the newer safer for FICM version). I'm hoping Eric will offer this soon.

I've been running eric's modded FICM for about 9 months now and love it. There's only two versions(mild or race). He said anything from stock sticks to 190's you should run the mild version and anything with larger than 200cc sticks go with the race version. I noticed way better throttle response with my truck. Haven't checked fuel milage but some have noticed around 1mpg better. I guess all depends on your setup, but the mild version could have 30hp gains and the race version could have somewhere up to 75+ hp gains i think, but don't quote me...you might want to shoot eric a pm or email to make sure. But i love my modded FICM from ID...seems to work great. I actually have one coming back to me tomorrow from eric that i'm gonna try on my buddy's '05. Might install it tomorrow night on his truck. You do not have to get new tunes when doing the FICM...your current tunes are fine.

I heard that if you have your FICM tuned by ID tht you can only run his tunes. Don't know if there is any truth to it but its just what I heard

in another thread i had read that you are able to run whatever tunes you want but because eric knows how he set up your FICM he can fine tune everything to the way he tuned it... unlike other pepole who are assuming that you still have a stock set-up... they also have a moderate tune for pepole that plan to upgrade there truck i think it was up to 195cc injectors

i am planning to send my FICM to eric but everytime i send him an email i get very short emails back...as a potential new customer when asking questions I would think he could give a bit more info than his site says... such as if he warrenties the programming...say you take it to the dealer and they mess up and reflash your system can you resend your board to him or are you forking it back out???

I also didn't like his quick responses, but I think it is because he is so busy. I had to write back several times to get all my answers though and it would have taken us both less time if he spent more time answering the first email.

You know what I think you are right about that. About Eric knowing what the tunes are and he can fine tune them for you. And yes he is a busy person lately. BUT at least he does answer your questions

I share the same irritation... I never get more than half of my questions answered, and responses are always very short.

You know he more than likely is hoping that as heavyhaller did we will ask questions on here to free up his time and be able to spend more time programing and gearing up for his next big thing.

Hey cartmanea did you send yours out your sig dose not say... If you did maybe you could answer a few questions???

Or calling out to ID faithfull's out there maybe you are able to chime in to ease the load on eric... so when i send mine in he is a little more focused on it.
