quick question

Hey guys, just got the looney tune yesterday morning and i have always had the rough cold start but this morning was a little diffrent. Went to start the truck and cycled the key and glowplug light went off. started and cut out. cycled the key 2 more times and then started and it stayed started but the normal(clanking sound that diesels make) cold start didnt happen. The motor was actually very quiet. all i could hear was the exhaust. Once the truck started idleing up to warm up it sounded normal. also there was alot of smoke comming out the exhaust. Is this normal with a higher hp tune? Figured all the smoke could be due to the tune but wasnt sure about all the smoke. The temp around here averages about mid 20's to lower 30's at night and i dont have a engine block heater but that is something i will be ordering today. Thanks for all of your help guys!

I had the same problem when I had the older flash with out the heat induction. Also found that the pass side glow plug harness was toast. During the cold weather, with any of my tunes , it has a lite smoke until warmed up.

I just installed my SCT thursday and loaded the Dfuser Wicked tune, and my truck did the SAME EXACT THING. Usually it starts rough, and rattles like crazy with no smoke. Now when i start it cold, it's quiet...no clattering, and bluish smoke from the exhaust. I'd like to know if this is normal also.

What strategy do you have? Mine is VXCF4NK....which is an older one I have heard. Also heard Ford had issues with this strategy.

Ill check my strategy in the morning with the SCT but that could be what is wrong. Thanks for the help guys. If it is a older strategy, what is the worst it will do? I dont have a waranty left on the truck so i would have to pay out of my pocket. Thanks guys!

Just to add, I had the same thing with my 07 with the sct. I did the 4" exhaust and EGR delete. The first morning was in the 20's and boy did it smoke. Scared the hell out of me. I have a pretty new flash on the truck. Eric told me to simply plug it in at night. That took care of the smoke. As for idling quieter. Mine is so much quiter now. I couldn't tell if it was because of the egr delete or the new tunes. I just know that I love the truck the way it is now. Gas mileage still sucks though. Can't get above 14 mpg. Took a long trip and got 16 max.

2007 Ford F350 FX4 Crew Cab long Bed, SCT X3, Innovative Tunes by Eric with Edge Insight and EGT. Magnaflow 4" Turbo back. EGR Cooler blocked off. RCD 2.5 Leveling lift kit, 35/12.5/18" Toyo MT. ARP Studs
