Banks 6 Gun vs SCT

My truck is in the shop getting studs and egr done. Talking with the mechanic there he seems to think Banks 6 gun system is better than the SCT programmer. Any ideas?

I hear ya man. I know most guys on here are running the SCT. I've had mine for a year and love it (innovative tuned). Was just curios why he loved their system so much.

I ran the 6-gun when I first picked up my truck and before I knew what SCT was and I hated it from the very get go! The power was very minimal for the price I paid for it, and the system was a complete pain to install. Then to have the transmission learn, you do 0-30 WOT, then slow down a little, then 30-60 WOT, then repeat for the next 5 levels. I ended up hurting my tranny and puking a load of coolant out the cap after doing the reccomended "install" Sold the 6-gun to a kid who swore Banks was KING and that his truck was going to run low 13's in the quarter with the 6-gun and I bought an SCT X3 and never looked back. The mechanic just like the 6-gun because of the work he gets to do when it messes up the trucks

The way I see it is, Banks advertises in just about every magazine and automotive show possible. This gets hammered in JOE PUBLIC'S head thinking that they have the best product out thier for just about any truck. This happened to me when Hyper-tec claimed they are the safest tuner out, I should of sent them my bill for the headstuds and gaskets!! !

Take it from someone who has both right now. I run the Banks PowerPDA for the gauges only. I bought it first because I do believe Banks makes an excellent product. The system was very easy to install, the PDA is great, all hard parts fit perfectly and the power was decent. The biggest issue with Banks six-gun is that it doesn't tune the transmission. Now all that being said the SCT is cheaper, tunes the transmission and has more power potential. I spent 1700 on the Banks system. That included the six-gun, powerPDA, exhaust and EGT sensor. Now you will still need to buy an exhaust, 400, SCT 300, gauges 250+ for only 2. So that is about 1000. So yes it's cheaper, and the tuning is better. But I sure like the PDA functions as a gauge center.
